About Us

We offer one-one counselling to all survivors( over 14) of childhood sexual abuse, rape, incest and domestic violence. The service is confidential and is not time session restricted but based on individual client’s needs.

Survive is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation - Number 1191837.

Survivors can attend, in agreement with their counsellor, for as long as they feel that it is necessary, to resolve their issues. We are able to offer day time and early evening appointments.
Survive offers an open door policy enabling clients to take a break when appropriate for them.

Initial contact with Survive is by phone, email or letter.  Following this, a first appointment is made with the counselling co-ordinator in order to assess how Survive can best meet the client’s needs.

Our counsellors

All of Survive's counsellors hold professional qualifications in counselling.  Survive is staffed entirely by volunteers. Although volunteers, we are an organisational member of BACP and abide by their Code of Ethics and Practice.

History and background

Survive is a small registered charity providing professional one-one counselling to all adult survivors (over 14) of abuse, specialising in childhood sexual abuse, domestic abuse, rape and incest.

Originally established in 1989 as Vale Royal Women’s Support Group in response to an overwhelming need for a support and information service on how to cope with the memories and trauma of childhood abuse. Volunteers did not necessarily have counselling experience or qualifications.

By 1993, a further branch had opened in Crewe and included several volunteer counsellors.

1994 saw the change of name to Survive, with the group taking on a much more professional approach and to include work with men as well as women. Survive became a registered charity in 1995 and our in-house training was set up.

Following a Lottery Grant, 1999 saw our move into our current premises offering counselling rooms, a training room, office accommodation and fully qualified voluntary counsellors - a warm and supportive setting for our clients.

Donating to Survive

As a small charity, fund raising is never easy, especially as we could not and would not ask our clients to speak up on our behalf.
